1964 French Open Championships

1964 French Open Championships in Paris playing against my brother Chong Teik and beating him. Later we beat a young Danish pair and I partnered Judy Charles of London University to win the triple. All appearing first time on Eurovision.  Chong Teik and I were representing Cambridge University in the British Universities touring team of France. (No sound)

Various news clippings from the Straits Timesin the 1960s retrieved from the National Archives. In the extreme right picture, this was the  All England Mens Open Doubles Finals, official World championships. I’m nearest back to camera partnering Danish Erland Kops, All England Champion.  This was my last badminton championship as I retired after this to focus on academic career

(L) With the All England Junior Badminton Singles trophy 1957 taken in my study at The Perse School, Cambridge. I was then 16 yrs old and wore my Victoria Institution badminton blazer. (R) With the 1965 French Singles trophy won outright.
